The DSTI in partnership with NRF-SAEON invites South African learners to participate in the 2025 Ocean Competition

The Department of Science, Technology & Innovations in partnership with NRF-SAEON invites you to participate in the 2025 Ocean Competition for learners from grades R-12 based in South Africa. The aim of this competition is to inspire and educate on the beautiful Atlantic Ocean or highlight some of the challenges in the Ocean through your submission. 

Your submission can be based on any one of the themes for this year’s competition:

  • How do you or your community connect to the Ocean?
  • Indigenous Knowledge and the Ocean
  • Marine Pollution in the Ocean
  • Climate Change and the Ocean
  • Sustainable fisheries and the Ocean

Entries Close 30 January 2026 @ 5 pm
